For adults who cannot switch off at night. Slow instrumental music: ambient, sparse piano, warm synth layers and barely-there nature. Tempo sits under 60 BPM — roughly a falling-asleep pulse.
What’s inside
Softer albums for the first stage (reading, lights dimming). Deeper ambient with almost no melody for the middle of the night. The quietest records can stay on until morning. Some weave rain, wind and surf under a faint musical bed; pure nature lives in nature sounds.
Pieces run five to twelve minutes with soft edges so nothing yanks you out of half-sleep.
How to use it
Start 20–30 minutes before you want to sleep and flip the phone face down. Keep volume barely above your breath. Use Spotify’s sleep timer (45–60 minutes) or leave the album looping — both are fine.
A fixed evening ritual beats random picks. One or two albums for a week or two trains the body faster than nightly shopping.
What else helps
Music supports a routine; it does not replace one. Same bedtime, lower lights, less late caffeine. If thoughts loop, pair the music with slow breathing: in for four, out for six. For structured evening practice see meditation music.
